ROYAL WEDDING INCREASES GEM SALES
October 30th, 2011
The royal wedding in England of the queen’s grandson has resulted in a significant increase in the number of sapphires exported out of Sri Lanka due to the fact that Prince William’s fiancée was given a large sapphire ring that came out of the country about thirty years ago when his mother became engaged to his father. Sapphires are not particularly difficult to obtain by minors and the sapphire mines in Sri Lanka have been especially fruitful. It has become popular lately to export sapphires that will eventually become wedding rings because of the recent royal wedding and people all over the world are having copycat rings made.
